EMILY DYKSTRA, DESIGNER
THE CHALLENGE
How to create a series for dog events that reads "whimsical" but not "juvenile."
I didn't want these designs to read as a cartoon, so I employed a choppy "cut paper" technique to read as bold, playful shapes. It was important to my client that I didn't use only one dog breed for the posters, so for two of the designs I came up with a variety of large and small dog silhouettes to check that box.
The design needed to scale well for a variety of assets including tshirts, posters, banner ads and web graphics.
Additional dog related designs were treated with a boho-chic motif, as seen in this dog bandana.
