EMILY DYKSTRA, DESIGNER
THE CHALLENGE
Creating my own line of product designs.
I have been in branding for a long time. Designing for clients is easy compared to creating my own aesthetic. I've always had a love of art which was reduced down to its essence... Japanese woodblock prints and Nordic abstraction are two of my favorites. I prefer geometric forms; they push me to reduction and simplification.
I worked with local and stateside vendors to create a line of products which honored the craft of design.
The process of creating my own line increased my confidence and my joy as a designer as well as gave my a new appreciation for sourcing.
